The Minyards Dog
ROAMING ON A PARKING LOT: This dog is roaming the parking lot at the Minyards Grocery Store at Camp Wisdom and Polk in far south Oak Cliff.
We hear the story from Faith Quintana who is asking for help with the dog.
Here's her note: "This poor doggy has been at the Minyard's parking lot for what I know, 2 months now. I have been going out everyday to feed and water her. I asked the manager of
Minyards if he called the animal control and he said 3 times. No one came out! I then called and still no response! I put my plea on Craigslist and got many emails from people wanting to help. The help was telling me ways to catch the baby.
"Today was a milestone for me. She actually came and took a piece of hot dog from my fingers. Then let me touch her little mouth.
"She's scared, but NOT vicious! I placed a crate out with a few pieces of hot dog. She did put one foot inside, and that was all. But, boy, that was a accomplishment! We need to get this poor baby to a vet and groomed! Its hair is so matted and I'm sure that is painful in itself! ... She would make a GREAT pet! Don't really know if it's a he or she!"
If anyone can help Faith catch this dog before someone or something harms her, e-mail fquintana001@tx.rr.com.
We all know the odds are against this dog whether she's roaming or taken into a kill shelter. Seems like the thing to do is to get her into a good home or a no-kill shelter. Just an obvious thought.
