This is a photo of the cat that was rescued overnight by Dallas Animal Services. The dramatic story of life-risking rescue leads our morning edition of Readlarrypowell.com below, thanks to the writing of DAS Animal Control Officer Mark Cooper, the rescue group coordinator for the shelter.
The ACOs who went in after the cat were Amy Carlisle and Sharon McLeod, we're told by DAS. The Dallas Fire Department also helped with making sure this event didn't end tragically for the rescued or the rescuers..
And now we have an update on the cat from Tammy Kidwell, president of Catmatchers, which took the little rascal in.|
She says the group has named the cat “Rewind” and explains, “The name came from the part of the story where the cat was walking towards DAS officer Carlisle across a rickety narrow ladder... The officer was telling the cat to rewind, rewind... because she was afraid she'd fall.
”Well that's when the cat fell another 60 feet. So in honor of Officer Carlisle we
>have named her ‘Rewind.’”
Before Rewind got a name, though, there was some medical work. Tammy reports, “Rewind was treated for shock overnight. She is extremely emaciated and dehydrated, so she is also getting fluids and food. The vet did a preliminary x-ray and found NO fractures! It is amazing. She is staying at the vet's office for care at this time.
”The xray revealed a seed like substance that is filling her intestines. It is the size of BBs. They have been able to get some out and it looks to be some kind of seed or berry that is rough and a white color. The vets are not sure of the substance, but watching her now as they make sure these are not harmful to her body.
”Rewind is about 7 or 8 months old and extremely underweight at 4 pounds.
”Thanks to all who saved this cat. “
