Word is spreading throughout the rescue community and beyond this Easter weekend that the legendary Fairy Dogmother of West Dallas, Angie Manriquez, is in a tight spot and needs some help.
She's run into a bit of a physical ailment that is causing suspension of her rescue activities -- and that means her friends and supporters are stepping up to help take care of the animals in her program. Her friends need help helping her.
Notes calling for rescuers to pull together for Angie's animals arrived from a variety of sources, including Mary Garrett of Oak Cliff, Elaine Munch and the Metroplex Animal Coalition, Annette Lambert and Animal Guardians of America, Chris Cattell, Cary Birdwell, etc.
Two things:
(1) To help with the animals, contact Annette Lambert at Animal Guardians of America. E-mail [email protected] or call 972-527-3726. The animals need a place to go -- you may have an extra spot or know someone who does.
(2) To boost Angie's spirits, cards can be sent to her c/o Mary Garrett, 3223 Salerno Drive, Dallas, 75224. Mary, who has made the tough "animal rounds" in West Dallas with the Fairy Dogmother, writes, "I know Angie well enough to know that she truly appreciates everyone's prayers and best wishes for her and her dogs."
People have been writing about Angie's efforts for years (she was the cover topic of Urban Animal magazine recently). Just last fall she received the Operation Kindness Sarah M. and Charles E. Seay Kindness to Animals Award.
As the reporters did their jobs, Angie has continued to work on her mission -- helping the helpless in a tough part of town. This is your chance to help her with her precious mission.
