Late-night contemplations...

Pardon the mean side of me for coming out.

Here goes:

Worst appearance ever before a Congressional committee? Mark McGwire. If you had a career you could be genuinely proud of, you'd have no need to dodge a question about performance enhancing drugs.

Barry Bonds says he's taking a year off and he's blaming the press. The question: How long does evidence of steroids stay in your system? A year, perhaps?

If Michael Jackson, apparently in agony from a bad back, beats the rap, which of the following will he do after court is adjourned?

(a) The Moonwalk

(b) Co-host a barbecue with Robert Blake

(c) Sell Neverland and give the proceeds to needy lawyers?

For as long as I have been around here (more than 30 years), the Wilmer-Hutchins School District has been in trouble. Come to think of it, so has the Dallas school district. I'm just wondering how the Dallas school board missed putting that indicted ex-superintendent from Wilmer-Hutchins on the "short list" for new DISD superintendent.

OK, I'm done for now. Except I'm really, really steamed about footdragging in the Texas Legislature over the tougher anti-cruelty law.  Write your state rep and tell that ELECTED official that you WANT that law passed to protect animals from idiots.
