People who have given homes to rescued dogs and cats know that they’ve also given their furniture, the fireplaces, their pants, their pillows and all sorts of other stuff to the rascals.
Thus we have this cavalcade of slumbering in our weekend feature, Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap.
It’s a trio of dogs intent on sawin’ the logs, catching some winks, nodding off in full agreement.
And the nominees were submitted by Mike Epperson of Duncanville who has an explanation for each dog.
“The red/white spaniel sleeping on my leg is ‘Tucker,’ rescued in 2003 from the Cedar Hill/Duncanville/DeSoto Tri-Cities Animal Shelter.
“The red sheltie/chow mix is with us just over one year now, coming to us in January 2005 from the Navarro County Animal Rescue Foundation. His name is ‘Arlo.’
“And finally (last, littlest, but never least) the white Maltese is ‘Toby.’ Toby isn’t even my dog any longer, having been reclaimed by my daughter, Sarah, when she graduated from college. He’s the elder statesman of the group at 13 years of age. In the attached photo, he’s sleeping on my daughter’s lap. He sleeps quite well.”
(We’re desperate for sleeping cat photos here at www.readlarrypowell.com. And we like to get lots of sleeping dog pictures, too. I’ve kidded about sending photos of sleeping in-laws, but, mercifully, nobody has sent in a photo of Ol' Bubba and his Rottweiller, Baby Bubba, sharing a recliner, a snooze and drooling like the sweet babies they are. We’ll also take photos of slumbering reptiles, birds, first, amphibians and, if you must, bugs. Just e-mail slumbering photos and information about the critters and you to [email protected]. One of the things we’re proud of is how the readers have managed to catch great photos of their critters and they enjoy sharing them with the whole wide world, if that’s what “www” stands for – oh, I know it’s World Wide Webfoots. Yeah, a picture of sleeping ducks would quack me up.)
