After being sort of "gone" -- and we're still not clear on the circumstances that allowed a blind dog to wander in East Dallas -- Bodey has been recovered in the nick of time.
We're working on getting the details. But here's the early report:
Kacy Littleton, who brought the German Shorthaired Pointer/Lab mix to Texas only to find out her apartment did not welcome more than one dog, reports that he was picked up on Tuesday (the day he went missing) at 12:20 p.m. and taken to a local kill shelter. She says, "He would have been euthanized tomorrow [Saturday] morning. To all of you who encouraged me to get out to the shelter today, this is truly a blessing.
"I still need to and want to find him the perfect home -- preferably one with no other dogs. He's gentle and sweet, loyal and well-behaved, a great protector and a fabulous watch-alert dog."
This hasn't been easy on Kacy, she says. "Since this past Tuesday, I've been paralyzed with sadness and guilt about what Bodey has had to endure through this ordeal -- beating myself up, feeling like I made the wrong choices and wrong decisions for Bodey. I feel so relieved that he is alive and OK. I took him directly to PetsMart for a bath and grooming. He's truly a sweet angel."
