And now, some Friday updates (More on this dog's photo later!):
(1) Several of the gravel pit dogs mentioned in our earlier report have been saved and are in rescue. There will, no doubt, be other dogs that need help. And foster homes will be needed. Use the contact info in the Friday morning report to offer help.
(2) Ladybug, the fox terrier at Prairie Paws Adoption Center in Grand Prairie, was on death row with a really short clock when an as-yet unrevealed rescue group stepped up to take her this morning. Soon as we know where she is, we'll let you know.
(3) Oh, yeah, there's a note going around that says the Lewisville Animal Shelter has a bunch of critters that need help. Call 972-219-3478 or click HERE to see shelter details and available animals. The Friday afternoon list includes a min-pin mix, lots of Lab mixes -- the usual North Texas lineup.
(4) That handsome dog? Why that's my sweetspouse Martha's gentleman companion, Cosmo. He's an older fellow with distinct gray highlights and he's a genuine gentleman. He's lived with us for years -- he was hitching a ride near a freeway and we picked him up. He's a very dear fellow and a prime example of how you can find a good friend just by opening the car door and letting him jump inside. He wasn't hitchhiking -- no thumbs, you know. He has the legs of a Bassett, the thick body of a Lab, pointy ears, no black on his tongue, a curly tail and the face of an angel. On his income tax form, he lists himself as "genuine canine" and gives his profession as "personal counselor." He's not board-certified.
