Two dogs romping -- sometimes you wonder who's having more fun, the rompers or the witnesses to the romp.
In this case the rompers are Jazzmyn, the Great Dane/Lab Mix, and Clancy, the Catahoula/Basset Mix.
And one of the rompers is a slumberer, so that's why they're highlighted in this weekend's Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap.
Both are foster dogs -- they're adoptable through Animal Rescue of Texas (ART). And they were nominated for spotlighting by Sheri Olson, who with her hubby Bob, fosters for both ART and the Richardson Humane Society.
As you can see from the photos, these dogs really enjoy a good high-spirited game of "let's be dogs."
Both came from shelters. Jazzmyn arrived about a year ago as a "very abused puppy" -- skin and bones at only 41 pounds. Sheri says the poor pup was "terrified of humans and had marks of abuse on her body." Now she's a loveable, playful, "sweet and loving" 85 pounds. "She'll put her big head in your lap for an ear rub and look at you with her gorgeous brown eyes."
And Clancy, Sheri reports, "is probably the most fun dog we've had in a long time. He's Mr. Personality. He's a great size since he has the short, long body of a Basset Hound. His coloring and playfulness comes from the Catahoula in him. We call him the 'cartoon dog' since he has such an unusual look. He loves to play all day and be a part of everything going on around him." He's gentle with kids, too.
Sheri's "rescuer's dream" is that both would go to the same home so they could continue to enjoy each other's company.
After all the romping Jazzmyn has the instinct of truly beloved big ol' dawgs. "In true Great Dane style," says Sheri, "Jazzmyn takes over the couch whenever she gets sleepy. We've given up trying to convince her to sleep on the dog bed on the floor."
