Our second edition this fine Friday is some happy news that shouldn't wait until the afternoon. We'd told Buttons' story earlier. Nobody was coming to look at her -- not stirring much interest on the adoption front. Big ol' rottie mix with the clock ticking and it didn't look good.
Here's the big news from Patricia Barrington, The Colony Animal Control Division Manager: "Buttons was adopted yesterday to a really swell man who works in the office next door. He had been seeing her romp in the yard from his office and brought his fiancé and future step-daughter to meet her yesterday. It was a really good match all the way around. I’m confident she’s in a great home where she will thrive and get as much love as she gives! A good end to the week!"
So, it's on to the next challenge at The Colony. As Patricia says, "There are still so many others. Jake, likely a purebred Labrador, is a great dog. He’s a little timid at first, but very loyal after a proper introduction. He’s incredibly smart and knows multiple commands. He is more fond of women than men, but has never reacted with aggression to anyone. He’s around 18 – 24 months and is a really, really incredible dawg."

" He’s my buddy," Patricia says. "Oh, and he really enjoys popcorn; it’s his favorite treat."
How did the shelter discover Jake enjoys popcorn? Well, one day they took him to the theater to see Star Trek.....I'm kidding. But if movie popcorn didn't cost so much, I'll bet lots of us would happily buy an extra ticket for our cinema hounds and the "large" popcorn. Have to get a bank loan first, though.
