Last day of February, first day of March, perfect time for an edition of our traditional weekend feature Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap.
We’ve had more winter in the past week than I had during my entire childhood in Northeast Texas. Beautiful snow on Friday. It was a sleepy day.
What looks like a dark insect feeler coming out of the back of my head is exactly that. Apparently when I dream, I dream I am some kind of rural insect living a happy life and I begin to transform into Puffy the Potato Bug. Wait, my apologies. Inky the Cocker Laureate of the State of Texas thought he’d have a little fun when I nodded off at the keyboard. My apologies. He's working on an agricultural children's book series these days. Cappy the Carrot. Carl the Cucumber. Billy Beet. Who knows where it will end? Lester and Leslie, the Lettuce Twins.
My funspouse Martha snapped this photo as I dozed on the couch with Porche the Sleeping Dog and Deputy Chief Kittie Leigh Johnson the Napping Cat. The black thing coming out of the back of my head is the handlebar on my exercise bike. I cannot explain the silver stuff covering my head -- it used to be black and curly. Probably got caught in a crop duster spray during potato season.
Take it easy this weekend and remember, it may be winter in North Texas, but it’s already spring in Arizona and Florida. Play ball!
