NOONTIME NOTE ON FRIDAY, JUNE 9, 2017 (PetPowellPress) -- This is one of those “Oh, brother, you’re kidding me” notes. When you read the reason this dog was surrendered, you’ll shake your head.
Amy Poskey, writing on behalf of Nanook at the Denton McNatt Animal Shelter just sent this appeal:
“Folks, this is one handsome boy who needs our help! Nanook was found as a stray and, surprisingly, never reclaimed. So, not surprisingly, he was adopted quickly, but has been returned for the ‘crime’ of being stubborn. Yep, that’s it.
"SO, now we are looking for a rescue group who can find the PERFECT home for him. Huskies aren’t for everyone so we want him to find the right home cuz the average adopter may not be able to handle this sweet boy. PET ID 69632.”
Nanook is under 3, healthy, crate-trained, smart, energetic and available. Learn how to adopt or rescue by getting in touch with Amy at [email protected] or with shelter manager Paul O’Neill at paul.o’[email protected]. Call the shelter at 940-349-7594 or stop by 3717 N. Elm St. in Denton.
Yes, he’s Nanook of the North -- North Texas, but he can leave the region! They’ve paved the highways, you know, even though I-35 may be under constant reconstruction.
ONE MORE SURRENDER NOTE: Once at an animal shelter I ran into a Border Collie rescuer who was still shaking her head because she'd just gotten custody of one of those energetic, attentive working dogs who'd been surrendered because, the human said, "He won't stop staring at me." Yep, didn't understand a Border Collie's goals in life: Watch for the command to herd and please the human. Dogs -- pretty darned forgiving creatures when you think about it.
