Logan says good night. He is dreaming of a furever home.
Check out his bio on our website.

Yep, that’s our headlining dog for this weekend’s Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap -- Logan, described as a year old Lab-Bassett mix. LabBass't? Bassrador? How about just Logan! He's clearly out like a light and incredibly comfortable.
Please join Readlarry powell.com in envying him.
For the final April 2018 edition of Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap, we turn to the the rescue community. Specifically, we’re proudly promoting the work of the Trinity GAP Rescue folks.
[Remember, on Saturday (10 a.m. -noon): The Trinity GAP Walk-a-Thon and festival at Euless Trinity High School! See Friday’s edition for more details.]
As you probably know, this diligent rescue group evolved from the Euless Trinity High School Girls Awareness Program. Combine good advisors with students willing to demonstrate responsibility in a field outside of the usual campus activities and you’ve got this enduring rescue group.
Logan (#17816 at GAP Rescue) is available for enjoyable slumber duty at the right house. Check with trinitygaprescue.org to audition to adopt.
What’s he like? Here’s the bio info from his foster:
“Oh my goodness Logan is the funniest dog ever. When he sees reflective lights on the wall or ceiling, he thinks it’s something and he stands on his back legs to get it. He is just obsessed with whatever it is that is moving all over the wall. He truly thinks it’s a ‘thing’! He is so super funny and such a sweet dog.”
Now this dog does have what some might consider a “disa bility.”
You'll want to see the video -- it's linked below. And we've got a photo of Logan happily, tongue-loppingly roaming (right) and making friend (below, left).
His foster writes that Logan’s “front leg was broken most likely when he was a puppy. His owners did nothing to help this little dog and it healed at an odd angle. Although a simple splint would have helped him, his neglect is now evident.
“Our vet felt that because he uses the leg, appears to not be in pain, and, because it is a front leg, amputation was not in his best interest. Another option for his forever family would be an operation to re-break the leg and set it with pins. If that is in his future, that would be wonderful.
“In the meantime, Logan uses the leg most of the time, runs like the wind, and is a perfectly happy and joyous dog. ... He seems to appreciate the blessing of every day and lives life to it’s fullest!”
[LARRY ASIDE: Clearly Logan is a dog that humans can learn from when it comes to keeping up that daily happy attitude.]
His Foster Mom adds, “Logan is a bit of a goof ball and will keep you laughing. He is such a sweet and honest guy. He loves to play fetch, is perfectly house-broken, is getting better on the leash, is the star of the show at the dog park, is learning how to tolerate cats, and is a great and calm guy in the house. He sleeps through the night on most nights with his foster mom and loves a regular schedule. He is learning commands and responds so well because the wants to please, which is a great quality in a dog!”
Foster Mom adds, “If you are looking to add a joyous soul to your life, Logan is the one for you.”

It’s brief, but it might be enough to grab a heart.

[DEAR READERS, remember to SEND PHOTOS OF YOUR SLUMBERING CRITTERS -- dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, in-laws -- to [email protected] and we’ll happily tell their stories. You’ll be encouraging people to adopt animals while also giving hope to insomniacs that they, too, can catch some sleep if they can just figure out how to lay on their backs and sprawl without regard to personal image!]
