[TUESDAY MORNING BULLETIN MAY 22, 2018 PetPowellPress] In Monday’s edition, we noted that our Mesquite tipster Judi Brown feared Melanie (38412724) would soon wind up on the shelter’s euthanasia list.
Her latest note reads, “An Angel posing as a dog named Melanie. But unfortunately this angel is on the code red list and we don’t want her to go to go to Heaven just yet. Please step up. She has until Wednesday a.m.”
[LARRY ASIDE: How do you kill an animal just for existing? Don’t we have enough killing of innocents in this world?]
The year-old, 47-pound mixed breed (Lab/Terrier/Pittie) arrived as a stray on April 27. Judi writes, “She’s a happy girl with lots of enthusiasm for life. She loves people and wants attention. She’s also alert and aware of her surroundings. She’s very playful. She went into the toy box and found herself a ball. She has a ball drive and doesn’t tire of fetching. However, she brings it back but won’t necessarily part with it.”
Call the shelter at 972-216-8283 or email [email protected].
[LARRY ASIDE: We’re mentioning Melanie in this “bulletin” because her “time” has been determined. There are other animals in a spot at Mesquite, too, and in many other shelters across the state. As you know, adoptions and rescues can empty enough cages to take the heat off the death row animals.]
