AN EXTRA EDITION FOR FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2018 [PetPowellPress] -- We’ve got the stories of two older dogs this morning. We know where one is. Where the other one is -- well, that’s the problem.
We begin with Ellie Mae’s sad tale in need of a happy ending. She’s #76012 in the Denton McNatt Animal Shelter. Amy Poskey, the volunteer shelter monitor, forwarded this at the request of Deborah Pahler at the City of Denton. Ellie Mae is 10, diabetic and blind -- she’s a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd mix. Why is she in the shelter? “Owner was evicted and could not keep the dog.”
When she’s walked, the note reads, “she acts like she can see and is very happy to get out and visit with people.”
She’ll need insulin twice a day. So, this is a job for someone who wants to honor an old dog’s long life and all that love that a dog can build up.
To ask about helping Ellie Mae, email these shelter addresses: [email protected], paul.o’[email protected], [email protected], and/or [email protected] Call the shelter at 940-349-7594.
The next older dog is the missing14-year-old Oprah -- we got this poster in the morning mail and we’re trying to get some details on the search and circumstances.
In the meantime, in case anyone knows the whereabouts of this older dog, here’s the poster and the number to call is 469-682-6179.
(I called. Got a recording. Left a message. And I’m posting this notice because I’d rather make sure we’ve attempted to help the dog at a key time. Seems like the thing to do -- publish without verification just in case there's a rescuer who needs a break.)
As you can see, she vanished days ago somewhere near Lakewood Park and Williamson in East Dallas.
[LARRY ASIDE: Not sure there’s a Prayer for the Safety of Older Animals, but let’s just say we’ve got one and we’re ready for it to work for these two dogs or any other animal in a fix.]
