THURSDAY AM UPDATE FOR THE DOG WHO WAS SHOT: This came from Laura Macias of 4-Legged Helpers in the early morning mail. The rescuers are trying to save Connor the Lab’s leg via surgery in the aftermath of the gunshot.
Laura’s morning report says “DONATIONS can go to: 4-Legged Helpers via PayPal - helpingshelterbabies@gmail.com (we will provide a tax receipt) or give DIRECTLY to the vet clinic… under our account, 4-Legged Helpers: The Shot Spot, 1827 W. Louisiana St., McKinney, TX 75069. Call 844-738-7468.”
The vet says Connor and Cole, the 45-pound probable sibling rescued with Connor, both have no problem with either other dogs or cats, Laura reports. Here’s, perhaps, a clue regarding their behavior: Laura’s note says the neighbor who first took in Connor and Cole after the shooting says the dogs lived with a neighbor who moved away and left them behind — that owner “had a bully he moved away with that used to live with them (Connor and Cole.”
[LARRY ASIDE: So, if my crackerjack not-board-certified legal recollection is correct, abandoning a dog is against Texas law and so, sometimes, is shooting a dog. Make a call to a Texas peace officer if you know details of these crimes.]
