This edition of Let Sleeping Dogs Lie & Napping Cats Nap is dedicated to everyone who has a dog or cat who actually owns the bed. Sometimes more than one dog and/or cat owns the bed.
Every now and then readlarrypowell.com will write a story about some challenge confronting Stephen Foster, the President/Founder of DFW’s Furgotten Friends.
Usually the story involves finding a place to put a dog. In this case, the dogs have clearly found the place. We offer photographic evidence.
Stephen posted the picture last week with the question/caption,
“So where should I fit for a nap? Guess I'll sleep on the couch downstairs.”
Ah, the couch. I asked drowsy Stephen to ID the dogs in this classic photo and he responded with his typical sense of humor and love for the dogs:
“Top left is Velvet from a litter and was not adoptable because she was crazy. Top right is is Freckles from a litter and was not adoptable because she was crazy. Bottom right is Savanah who was brought to us at 5 weeks old and my wife Shawn fell in love so we kept her. Bottom right is Chelsea from a litter that all got adopted but she had serious medical issues so no one would adopt her. On the table is Jake. We heard scratching at our front door and found a 5-week-old puppy on our porch. My wife fell in love and he never left.”
You see how sweet those dogs are. Stephen wrote, “That's what makes me laugh. They are all perfect at my home but were horrible when on trials or with fosters at other homes.”
[LARRY ASIDE: Can I get a chorus of “Understanding Amens!” from the Congregation of Canine & Cat Slumber Enablers.]
